Responses to  2 NT  Opening with No 4+card Major

When the partner does not have a 4+card major, the partner can be balanced or can have a long (6+cards) minor suit. The partnership must resort to contract in No Trump or in a minor suit.
Partner's Requirements
Point Count: The partner must have 5 or more HCPs in the hand. The location of the points does not matter.
Suit Length: The partner does not have a 4-card major suit. The partner could be balanced, or have a 6+card minor suit.
Strategy    The opener's  2 NT  hand is much stronger than the partner's hand. If the partnership wins the contract, you want the partner's much weaker hand to be the "dummy" where it is exposed face-up on the table. The strategy is to encourage the 2 NT opener to be the first player to bid the eventual trump suit so that it stays out of the dummy.
